Mohammad Nabi, born on January 1, 1985, in Logar Province, Afghanistan, is a prominent all-rounder who has significantly contributed to Afghanistan's ascent in international cricket. His family relocated to Peshawar, Pakistan, during the Soviet–Afghan War, where Nabi began playing cricket at the age of 10. After returning to Afghanistan in 2000, he continued to develop his cricketing skills alongside future national teammates. 

Nabi's talent became evident during a 2006 match against the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in Mumbai, where he scored 116 runs, catching the attention of former English Test captain Mike Gatting. This performance led to his inclusion in the MCC's Young Cricketers program in England. He made his first-class debut in 2007 against Sri Lanka A, top-scoring for his team with 43 runs in the first innings. 

Nabi played a pivotal role in Afghanistan's cricketing milestones:

One Day Internationals (ODIs): He participated in Afghanistan's inaugural ODI in April 2009 and became the first Afghan bowler to take 100 ODI wickets during the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier against the West Indies. In August 2018, he became the first Afghan cricketer to play 100 ODI matches. 

Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is): Nabi was part of Afghanistan's first T20I team in February 2010 and holds the record for the fastest fifty by an Afghan cricketer in T20Is. 

Test Cricket: He played in Afghanistan's debut Test match in June 2018. In September 2019, Nabi retired from Test cricket to focus on limited-overs formats. 

Throughout his career, Nabi has been instrumental in Afghanistan's victories over 45 different nations across all formats, showcasing his versatility and leadership. 

In franchise cricket, Nabi has competed in various leagues, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he was the first Afghan player to be selected. He has played 24 IPL matches, scoring 215 runs with a highest score of 31. 

Nabi's journey from playing cricket in refugee camps to leading Afghanistan on the global stage is a testament to his dedication and the growth of cricket in his homeland.
